In-Seit
Penetranzen
Germany's In-Seit have largely remained in the shadows of post-punk's endless underbelly, but they certainly haven't been forgotten by the era's most prolific crate-diggers and B-side fanatics.
The German duo have gone on to become a cult outfit since their 1982 LP, Grosskariert, and have only released a few EPs aside that, so this 2018 reappearance feels like something truly special.
Penetranzen comes through on Wiener Brut, and it's a logical progression to their debut album, or rather, a more mature interpretation of the sort of music that they were making back then. Skeletal drum machines and rhythmic waves of analogue synth carry these dance-not-dance tunes into the dancefloor, and give the German duo's vocals an industrial edge that is perfectly suited to today's fascination with the golden era of electronica.
