Happy Mondays
The Factory Singles
It's been 40 years since the Happy Mondays were signed to Tony Wilson's Factory Records. Britain at that time may have been beset by the Thatcher regime but counterculture was thriving and the UK was benefitting from a vibrant free party movement and an appealing club culture with Manchester's Hacienda perhaps chief among the places to go out. Happy Mondays fit right into that as they brought together people who usually thought they were into only rock or only dance but the Mondays did both and masterfully.
There were few better singles bands than the Mondays and this collection, released in honour of their 40th anniversary, collects all the singles they released on Factory between 1985 and 1992 - the only years they were on said label. From 'Step On' to '24 Hour Party People' and 'Kinky Afro' to Loose Fit' - this is a one stop shop for the ultimate Happy Mondays listening experience.
